It’s a sad weekend for French motorsport as Formula 1 visits Magny-Cours for the very last time. Sit back and enjoy a melancholic look at a lap of the circuit located in Nevers, rural France.
The ING F1 Race Index makes a welcome return this week, but Christine has issues with the scoring calculations and proposes her own Sidepodcast Race Index rating that’s slightly more representative of the French track.

Music played: Céline Mastrorelli, Elle rentrait tous les soirs
Music comes from music.podshow.com, with special thanks going to Allianz SE, and ING Group, for the use of their video footage.

Christine/Me,
Thank you for another lovely little preview. You two must never get any sleep.
Just got the manky news over here that while Speed TV (the usual carrier) will carry Qualli live, they lose coverage of the race to an outfit called WAGA: who will show the race at 1pm EST, some five hours after the race starts.
There will be no 5 live coverage on the internet, because Bernie bans that, so the only coverage, till sidepodcast starts its commentary, will be the timing thing on F1.
It used to be really cool to get up and watch the race first thing in the morning.

sorry to hear that brendan.
not sure if we’ll have our commentary sorted by raceday, but if there’s a will…

Me,
I’ve written very nasty letters to WAGA/WSB and actually got a reply, they won’t do anything, but I’ll summarize the responses on my blog later.
While I look forward to the possibility of listening to your commentary, if/when you do it, I think what I am going to do is utilize the good offices of Skype and call up a fiend in London who will have it on, and simply listen to the television/radio commentary over the Skype telephone.
It’ll be free, and when I write and tell Bernie what I did: he’s sure to have nightmares:)
Hell of a way to run a railway….
