Video 15 – Italy Preview

Sidepodcast TV logo

It’s the penultimate European race, and that means we’re heading to Monza in Italy. Ferrari’s home Grand Prix stands out as the only low-downforce event remaining on this years calendar, so expect to see some very skinny rear wings as the team’s fight to tame the legendary asphalt.

The status quo won’t change much though, the two leading teams will still be battling it out at the front in one of the closest run championships for a long time. Don’t miss Sidepodcast’s preview of the Italian Grand Prix as we look at the recently revised circuit.

    Christine,

I dread Monza, but you made it sound somewhat inviting, well done.

Surely Ferrari were ’sandbagging’ for the testing?

I’m sure they will go faster during the race.

    Taller than J.Todt, eh, LOL!

    Thanks Brendan,

Why do you dread Monza? ‘Me’ loves it, and I like that it’s different to any of the other tracks.

    Christine,

I was there in 1972 when Jarno Saarinen was killed. Now, historically: I doubt that anyone will remember who he was, especially younger folks. But Saarinen was the greatest of them ALL.

Being there, made me feel responsible, because if I hadn’t been a fan of this terrible sport: he wouldn’t have died. I know, doesn’t make sense, but…..

If you can imagine the effect that the death of Senna had upon F1: then quintuple it for the effect of Saarinens death.

Monza has been responsible for many deaths and the organizers were the worst, most incompetent of ALL places, and it is sooo fast. Thankfully, F1 and Bernie has dragged them into this century.

It just makes me shiver: it shouldn’t, but it does.

Sorry if that was a bit miserable….

That’s not miserable, I can’t imagine what it’s like to actually be there when something like that happens. Just watching Kubica’s crash on TV made me feel awful.
