Running on Empty

Just a quick note to say that this week’s show is running a little late, due to a minor bout of ‘man flu’ coupled with Christine’s unique ability to to acquire sporting injuries whilst sleeping… seriously, she went to sleep in perfect health only to wake up the next day unable to move her head more than five degrees in any direction.

Regardless, normal service should resume later today. In the meantime we have a new addition to our podcasting arsenal in the guise of this little toy:

Some technical wizardry from Novation

It’s the type of disruptive technology that’ll either take a podcast to a whole new level, or simply swallow up so much time that nothing will ever get done again.

See what happens when we have so much free time between races?

it’s called a xiosynth. i think it’s designed for dance music producers and the like. that’s not what we’re planning to use it for though :)

Sleep injuries are perfectly possible. I woke up Saturday morning in a funny position, went to shift myself into a more comfortable position and pop! I twisted a muscle in my neck. Couldn’t move my head much for the rest of the weekend. But enough of my sleeping habits…
…xiosynth. Have no idea what it is (even after reading the website) but for some strange reason, I really want one. :)

Maybe Christine needs to start sleeping with a HANS device, and higher cockpit sides (a couple of extra pillows can recreate the effect) for added safety.

damnit, now i’ll have to end the ridicule.

looks even better when all the lights are glowing and flickering.

There should be no ridicule in the first place, otherwise we’ll have to get onto the subject of “man-flu” and no one wants to go down that road. :)

Has anyone asked Hans about this?

As far as I can see, sound gadgets are the most complicated and weird-looking of all the new technologies. Not only does the real thing consist of more dials, sliders, knobs, buttons and lights than anyone can possibly understand, but the software versions follow the pattern by throwing just as many controls on the screen.

I have long suspected that the sound people learn just those controls that they need and then stick to them, just as I do with the wonderful GoldWave (a shareware sound manipulator that can do anything - I use it to transfer sound files from one format to another). Thank you, Sidey for confirming me in my assessment of the situation. ;)

    Christine,

Mens diseases are always far more intense than those small things Women get:)

Nevertheless, all good wishes to you both.

    Xiosynth: ah, cool.

Someone will be playing keyboards to us soon, eh?

Christine, call it cosmic karma for making fun of the poor little kid in his overalls at autosports international.

Get well soon… the both of you.

(P.S. Idea: Something for the upcoming season, how about doing a live chat during the races (via the comments on a blog post or something of that nature) At the least, it would provide you two with at least some material for the review show.)

    smart arse!

for that, i’m gonna learn every single possible combination of button presses, and then i’m gonna demo them all in succession.

it’ll be a long show, but it’ll teach ye a lesson.

    :)

actually forumula1.net already do this, but at times it can be like sitting inside the matrix, watching all the conversations scroll by.

a worthwhile idea though, watch this space.
