I wish I had known about your site last year. Christine your work looks so proffessional. Informative and to the point. I think you have a fan. I will be sure to comment as much as possible through the season. Enjoy the race.

Ah, there we are again, long live your previews.

    What I particularly liked
    - the driver insight provided by Glock, I’d keep that in the show if I were you, see if you can find driver comments and forecasts on the circuit.
    - Look back at last year’s highlights is good to refresh our memories.
    - Don’t EVER switch back to the ING index again.
    - Loved the background tune!

Perhaps you could try to fit in your predictions for the race. Who do you think will do well, grab the pole/win, who will do less, …

    Keep up the good work!
    Cheers,
    Michael

christine thought is became a little silly, but i quite liked it.

what were your specific objections, the ratings, the concept?

Perhaps you could try to fit in your predictions for the race.

    can do, no problems.

Awesome preview video. I believe we’re all in for a very good year with Sidepodcast.

    appreciated :)

I think the problem with the ING index was the weird results it gave. All sounded very scientific and sensible, then they tot up the points and out comes a score that you know bears little relation to reality. There are some things that just can’t be measured with a slide rule (oh, that’s right, they don’t use them anymore, do they…?)

Great preview, always love those virtual sprints around the track, they’re so clean!

I didn’t think it was silly, I thought it was too serious. Every number they came out with was between 50 and 70.

Very mathematic and proper, I’m sure, but where’s the fun in a bunch of very similar numbers? I almost fainted when Spa got a 90-something.

That really brought home to me that I wish I was there this year….I went last year and had a totally excellent time….

It’s a great city and track…after the race you can walk round the circuit… and it’s fun to sit by the lake and chill for a while too….

I loved it and your preview brought it all back… and made me wish I was there again… thanks guys, excellent as always…

    Thanks for the preview!

Where do you get the animated track video? I assume you don’t control it but is there any chance of getting a version that stays in the cockpit the entire time? I’m sure the cut aways to different camera angles make for a more visually interesting result but they don’t help get a feel for the track itself.

BTW, I agree with Christine about the scale of the index. Didn’t every track score between 62 and 65 =)? What’s the point of having a scale that large if you only use a part of it?

    Keep up the good work!

nice idea, but sadly it’s nothing we can control. i quite like the panorama views though. there’s no way bernie’s camera’s can give you anything like that vantage point.

What’s the point of having a scale that large if you only use a part of it?

yeah, but the glossy graphics were sooo pretty.

I just don’t see the use of rating a circuit, that’s all. I think it’s pointless because every circuit has its own features and I don’t see why it is necessary to rank them.

Like the one you use now a lot better :)

Great preview show guys (you’ve excelled yourself).
Still can’t get my head round the fact that you don’t work in the media industry at all.I like the fact that the show looks like it should be featured on a sky TV motoring channel - but, us bloggers that are in to F1 can get our comments read out and interact with the show.
Did you see that girl - i forget her first name…someone Ecclestone on the ITV F-1 preview?.Wonder how she got the job, eh?.When i was watching her feature in the ski resort with Ferrari i thought…Christine off sidepodcast : looks better, presents better, and comes across as having a hell of a lot more grey matter between her ears. She should be doing that feature.
But, i think sidepodcast will be it’s own mainstream branded program in the near future. So, keep up the good work guys; and even if ITV beg you on their knees to work for them.Don’t ;)

Wonder how she got the job, eh?

my guess is she’s a bargaining chip so that itv don’t lose martin. bernie says “put my daughter on tv and i’ll ensure brundle’s paddock access isn’t threatened”.

maybe that’s a bit harsh, but i can’t figure why else they’d want her? she’s clearly filling the role that beverly turner vacated a while back, and she has improved from her days presenting flugtag, but she’s not a natural in front of the camera.

and even if ITV beg you on their knees to work for them.Don’t

    deal.

ITV are advertising for someone to work on their online content - specifically the motorsport department.

Apparently, they want to improve the multimedia aspect of the site.

It’d almost be worth it, if only to try and make things better from the inside.

having spoken to previous employees of the said broadcasting company, i’d strongly advise against it. as an employeer, apparently they suck.

plus, you have a greater chance of bringing about positive change by forcing them to play catch-up.

    :)

    Is dis true or wot???

    http://en.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/080312100235.shtml

Forget gear ratios, horse power or tyre compounds, the first thing on David Coulthard’s mind when he touched down in Melbourne this week was his diminishing supply of underpants.

The veteran Scot told a news conference in the Australian city that his first stop-off after the 20-hour flight from Europe was to buy 40 pairs of smalls that can only be found Down Under.

“I’ve got a bit of Australia wrapped around my nether regions when I do all my Grand Prix,” said the 36-year-old Red Bull driver, revealing that he always wears ‘Holeproof Underdaks’ when he’s at speed on the 18 circuits on the calendar.

Coulthard added: “I always go and stock up at the beginning of every season and buy my underdaks for the season ahead.”

A good story to report in F1 Minute, maybe? NO?

Christine: This is a very good podcast with very slick production. And you’re a fine presenter. But I think you need to slow down just a touch. Your delivery is sometimes so quick that it sounds like sentences are running into one another, especially when describing the 2008 F1 grid and giving the Sidepodcast contact information during this podcast. Minor quibbles. Fine work!

a constant source of debate, this subject. i like it how it is, because i suffer from a particularly short attention span and get bored easily.

maybe we should try it a little slower, as a test.

if anyone has a preference, please weigh in.

I seem to remember Martin sending Tamara Eccclestone to grab an interview with Michael Schumacher on a grid walk because Michael doesn’t like Martin any more.

I only cam across this site at Xmas when I found Christine’s version of the Queen’s speech so this is the first preview I have seen. I was really impressed by it.

The only time I have noticed the delivery speed is in F1 Minute when it gets a bit quick. Other than that it is fine.

To quote JP McEnroe. You cannot be serious. The car is ugly but that looks like something that a bunch of tree huggers protesting against a new road being built would wear.

oh dear i thought the drivers got away without the green. They have made the car abit more attractive so decided to ruin the uniform! the white in 2006 was good, and the white and black is ‘07 was fine, but green!

Late-comer I may be, but I have to offer a massive complement to the video: I hope you don’t mind that I’m about to pinch a copy to look at whats inside the matroska. The quality you seem to have eeked out of what is probably a tiny little video file is *very* impressive. The flash player is nicer than a nice thing on nice supplements too.

Content seems informative as ever, perhaps a tad rushed but given the sheer amount of slick-ness, my jaw is firmly entrenched in the “dropped” position.

matroska was the result of me transforming the 4 in the filename to a k in my head by the time I got down here ;) - its merely a different video container format.
