    Hey Christine and “me.”

I don’t mean to be rude, but I just thought that I would comment on the music fading in and out during your recap of last year’s race. I found it to be quite annoying, and I think that it detracted from your show instead of enhancing it. I’m really not trying to be negative. Think of it as constructive criticism. Hopefully, I’m not alone in my beliefs. If I am, feel free to disregard this comment.

The rest of the show is absolutely brilliant. Can’t wait until the next show.

    Thanks,
    Cracked

no probs cracked, all criticisms welcome. can i just check though, do you mean throughout the whole show? because there isn’t any music during the bit that recaps last year’s race.

or did the audio go out of sync maybe? hmmm.

Circuit de Catalunya can be a bit of a bore at the best of times. The circuit layout and the amount of testing the teams do at the track hinders the quality of the racing there, so I guess we can look forward to a processional event this weekend. Watching both GP2 races, F1 qualifying and race will be like pulling teeth if something exciting doesn’t happen in both!

I would place my bets on a Ferrari win this weekend. From what I’ve seen so far there’s really only one car that looks like it will win a Grand Prix: the F2008. So Kimi, Massa, Heikki, Hamilton and the two BMWs behind me thinks.

Also… this might sound a bit critical but I do think that there’s perhaps a bit too much emphasis on looking back to the previous years with the preview shows? About two-thirds of this one was taken up with a look back on the 2007 race!

cracked, apologies. i am an idiot!

for some reason i thought you were commenting on the video, not the audio preview. the two of us are working on two separate podcasts and i got all confused.

this question is better answered by christine… who’s going to dig me out of this huge hole any second now, isn’t she??

i really like the look back, how about we extend the new stuff to give it a better balance?

    You’re both right.

@Cracked - I think the problem this week is that I didn’t get the levels right, therefore the music seems inordinately loud compared to the clips. Have you found it a negative in all weeks or just this one? I will try harder next time, promise.

@Dank - I have two excuses lined up ready :) I couldn’t decide which clips to drop, they all seemed relevant and/or amusing. Plus, I was really scrabbling for anything worthwhile to say this week. However, you are right and I will try and tone down the self-indulgence next week.

    @me - You’re welcome.

So, that’s actually a really good question. I want to give the people what they want.

Less reminiscing or more current stuff? Or both!?

That would be perfect. There’s no harm in covering what happened previously, but being a preview my thoughts are that it should looking ahead rather than back.

Of course this is just my opinion, be interesting to know what the other listeners think as well.

Change of plans guys - me and my dad won’t be making the Dunlop Great and British race at Snetterton because the car he was due to drive got rolled by some other guy on a test day :( But he’s looking to race either Brands Hatch, Donington or Rockingham, so it’s not all bad :)

So this means I’ll be able to join you guys for some good live-commenting fun :P

i just twittered this, but in case you missed it, toyota have some fancy-pants rear wheel bins in barcelona:

    f1.gpupdate.net/en/photolarge.php?photo…

these are more similar to the ones ferrari run, with a smaller diameter center hole. anyone know if these are brand knew, or have been tested elsewhere (last week or previously)?

If I remember, there’s been nothing more on the the racism front, so I didn’t really think it was a problem any more. I can understand why they’re doing it, but I wouldn’t have thought it necessary, would you?

sounds to me like a sport that’s desperately looking for some good press.

what happened to the title ‘Racing against Racism’? too closely tied max perhaps?

I think after his little “issue” they’ve decided to go with something else ;)

Also, some good news (I guess) - Super Aguri are in Barcelona! Look!

seems likely. either them or sold to toyota.

Exactly, so if there’s no more issue, why come out with this now seemingly pointless campaign? All due respect, racism is unacceptable in any form of sport and society, but why set up something to fight it if there isn’t any at the time? “Setting up for the future”, maybe?

Well Patrick Head did say in that article “No comment” which we all know means that something IS going on, they just don’t want to tell us ;)

I like the look back and the length of it doesn’t really matter to me. The recap of the previous race is fine as well. If you plan on changing anything, I would suggest you extend the show a bit and give us some more info on the current goings on.

    Cheers!

    Me,

Wot: that’s 4 am here in the boiling swamp……we shall see:)

Christine: heh, if you want to see levels a bit out of whack, F1blog had a soundmare with their last one. I think Camber was out of the studio, and Grace was in, and she was MUCH louder than him. They always have good stuff to say, which ameliorated it somewhat, but boom boom, quiet quiet was the order of the pod:)

FWIW: I’m okay with the reminiscing part: the forward look, unless there is a lot of news coming through is largely speculation anyway, and that’s really for bookies.

    Christine and “me,”
Sorry about the delay in response. Only in this week’s show. I’ve been listening to your show for the past year or so and I find them to be quite enjoyable. Hope this is helpful.

As for Williams being sold, I think it would be very unfortunate. And not just because having independent teams in Formula 1 makes the show more enjoyable and competitive, but because of William’s history in Formula 1. Such a shame as I think I am right in stating that this would come after their recent 40th anniversary.

On the former note, I don’t think that any team should be allowed to have a B-team. I was delighted to hear that Red Bull is trying to sell theirs, even if it won’t be until 2009 or 2010. I don’t think we need to talk about Super Aguri.
