The problem with this weekend is that you can never quite tell who’s legitimately fast and who’s just playing up to the crowds - Alonso being an extreme example of the mystery.
Free Practice 3
Raikkonen’s still up there at the top, but edged out by a BMW in this session.
Qualifying
Alonso does it for the Spanish crowds, whilst McLaren struggle slightly, and Raikkonen takes pole.
Conclusions
A rundown of all the teams and their thoughts on the days action, with Honda and Williams disappointed, Renault over the moon and McLaren philosophical.

I think covering all the teams is great. It gives us an insight in to what everyone thinks and what everyone’s going to do. Plus it extend the podcast somewhat, and I like a nice podcast with a good bit of length to it. Really does give me something to listen to and enjoy.
Excellent work as always. Let’s hope that with the craziness of the weekend so far, some of that will rub off onto the race.

Like I said after having listened to your podcast on FP 1 and 2, I would really like you to keep covering all the teams. Helps your fans get a bigger picture of the GP:-)

Has anyone noticed that on formula1.com the ‘captured’ section on the right, that usually only shows images captured on the tv cameras during the race, now shows images captured on the tv cameras during practises and quali too?

Great job, Christine. Just wanted to echo the thoughts of Scott Woodwiss, Lou and Alenyaa. Going through every team’s press release after each day of a Grand Prix weekend is very useful, as there’s normally some decent info to be found.
Unfortunately, only around 10% of the average Formula One press release is actually interesting, so for that reason I often don’t bother to read them. Just picking out the good stuff is a great idea, and really enhances the podcast.

Let me join the chorus asking that you please keep the rundown feature covering all of the teams at the end of the day. It really helps to put things in perspective on the day’s happenings. Thanks!

Just listened to the qualifying digest, thanks for including all the teams in your conclusion I find I do want to know about everyone not just the same top teams so a little snippet in conclusion gives a much clearer pic of the whole field not just the front few.
Looking forward to todays race, can Alonso keep it up? What will happen to Rosberg who seems to have sunk a bit after early success? I suspect Kimi will win from pole tho’ or is that too easy an assumption?

I like the way the F1 Digest is put together. Getting a little bit from every team is a good idea, as is sprinkling comments from Sidepodcast commenters into the practice narrative (and thanks for including some of mine!
)

Weather conditions are dry and sunny for the race. Looks like we won’t be getting any rain today.

Also, autosport.com has reported that all 11 teams (could be 10
) have agreed to use the KERS system in 2009.

I think that we might be in for the most exciting Spanish GP ever! Although there was 2001, when Hakkinen’s engine blew up on the last lap while he was leading, and Schumacher swept through to victory.
