After the first four rounds of the championship have been hot and humid, it makes a refreshing change to find some low temperatures in Turkey. See how the teams coped in Free Practice.
Free Practice 1
Raikkonen had to sit out much of the session due to gearbox problems, but all he seemed to miss out on was a lot of drivers spinning.
Free Practice 2
Webber pushed his Red Bull to the limit and crashed into the barrier, whilst everyone else continued to struggle to keep their cars on the tarmac.
Conclusions
Most teams are feeling quietly confident, despite the low temperatures and lack of grip both sessions provided today.

Thanks for the recap!
Now the Fisi red light incident had me wondering, with Heidfeld’s ruined race in Spain, have any changes been made to the pit lane regulations already?
On finally: what happened to Inside Track?
Special plans regarding the commentary competition?

Oh, and as my last post made clear: I think you forgot to switch comment editing back on

nick’s still calling for changes today:

it’s running so late, it’s almost gonna be a review show! sorry. trying new stuff (cause i have a short attention span and got bored), not happening as fast as it should do, and yep commentary winner sounds great
working on it right this minute, will not sleep until it’s done… even if the sun comes up.
editing should come back on monday. the problem is with 100+ comments on a post the page falls to pieces.

we don’t want you falling asleep in the middle of it

on the plus side, i’m glad you asked about the shows whereabouts. shaun mentioned it in the f1minute comments, but i thought nobody had missed it

good point, but no, there’s no-one to blame but me on this one really.
it’ll be the subject of a behind the scenes post, no question

Yay! I love the behind the scenes posts!
I have a question for you, about http://www.drop.io/sidepodcast cause i missed the live commenting and was abit confused as to how it will enhance the commenting. Sorry i probably missed the comment it liked to or that explains it more. I was just wandering

You do realise I was just being silly, don’t you?
May 9th, 2008 at 11:55 pmme said:
well, i was supposed to write a post about that too, damnit with all these plans and so little time.
drop.io does a bunch of cool things. firstly it lets anyone call up an answerphone service and leave a voicemail. like we do with skype only this is live so everyone hears it immediately. we might record some instant audio thoughts, and so can anyone else.
it let’s us share video, without bringing the site down (and presumably without bernie taking the site down). we can post live timing screenshots too.
basically it’s a big bucket for anything that you can’t describe in text format. i’m assuming we’ll leave a comment saying:
and if anyone cares to see it, they can.
there are a couple of issues, number one being that it’s yet another screen to keep open, number two is it’s open to abuse, and number three is the damn thing was down all of today.
it may or may not work, but it costs us nothing, so we figure it’s worth a try. feedback as always will be instantly acted upon. it isn’t only for live commenting either, so feel free to try it out.

yeah. you know what i mean though. ‘fail’ isn’t the right word.
how about:
we treat time like an elastic band and frequently stretch it to its limits.

Don’t worry about it
u give up soo much of your time to sidepodcast we will forgive you
My god! a brilliant idea, The closest to commentry you can get i suppose! and its free which is even better!!
That should not be a problem for quali and races, cause i think most people watch the feed on the tv (if they are like me) so for races i only even have my screen split between sidepodcast and live timings
and as from next year the practices will be available on the TV too!
Will do!
have saved it to my fav websites so i can get to it easily, if it works might be an idea to leave a link on sidepodcast some where.
Thanks for taking the time to explain it to me, its been a long day

wow that was possibly the longest comment i have written so far

we had a forum right at the beginning, maybe the first 3 months of sidepodcast. after that we had a section of forumula1.net.
the problem is forums are a pain in the backside to administer. keeping them spam free is troublesome and it bugs me when people have these huge signatures that kill my browser.
i think christine quite likes the idea, but i can’t see what it would give us over email / blog comments / voicemail / facebook discussions?
