F1 Digest - France Free Practice

Sidepodcast F1 Digest logo

Alonso was the main talk of today, with a breakdown and a fastest lap in two very different sessions. The only other notable thing was the track, but you can hear all about it in today’s F1 Digest.

Free Practice 1

A very slow start to a pretty uneventful session. Alonso had the major problem, whilst the others just seemed to struggle for grip.

Free Practice 2

More grip issues, due to a much warmer track, but that didn’t stop Alonso taking the top spot, despite his earlier problems.

Conclusions

Some unusual faces towards the sharp end of the timesheets, with Vettel showing particularly well, and very happy about it.

Sorry Christine I will have to listen to this episode tomorrow, but just wanted to say that my local Tesco’s in Weston Favell, Northampton has some Formula F1, T’shirts (£15) and Rugby style tops (£25) back in stock again. I did take a couple of photos of them on my mobile but as they are no where near Lou’s high standards of photography I’m to embarrassed to post them on drop.io, but may upload them tomorrow if you promise not to be rude. I’m not sure if they are the official tops or not though?

I’m going to try to get back in time for P3 but was planning to rush around in order to get back in time for an 11am start until Lou pointed out via Twitter dm that it actually finished at 11am, so will try to get back for 10am but it may be pushing it a bit. Either way I’ll see you for quaily.

Always nice to get a mention, even if it shows how disorganised I am to not realise that yesterday was a Friday, and that this is a race-weekend :)

I’ll start doing my rain dance on the balcony again tomorrow…

I think Christine was setting up a DNS attack to stop people changing their drivers in a desperate bid to climb up the ladder :)

I set up a team at the start of the season, then forgot about it. I’ll try to find the password at the end of the season and see who I’m in front of….

OK, sorry for the delay in getting online today, my quick 2 hour job helping to tow a friends Landrover back to his place took just a little longer than planned, about 13 hours longer to be correct.

Anyway, here’s the link to the images of the F1 mechanise I found in Tesco’s at Weston Favell, Northampton. Wide shot, Close up

Sorry, I spelt Formula wrong, and couldn’t work out how to add notes to the images so the close has a comment by me on it. I’m just wondering if these are the real Formula 1 mechanise or not?

Oh and Christine and ‘me’ congrats on already getting over 1,400 comments for these race weekend. That makes over 5,500 comments for June so far, and already beats the fantastic 5,300+ comments you got for May, which in it’s self was up from the 3,750ish comments for April. Glad to see that this site is still going from strength to strength.

And, yes, I will try really, really hard to be here for the race tomorrow. and another massive Thanks to Lou for all the Twitter updates again today. Thanks

Thanks ‘me’, I have being using all the beta versions and didn’t have a problem posting comments, but when I upgraded from Beta 3rc2 to the final release, it needed a Flash update to, since then it’s crashed when posting comments to sites.

It even done it when I tried to post comments on a photo on Facebook, plus on the commandN.tv site which is Typepad based. So not really sure if it FF3, Flash, or my computer? Would really like to get it sorted before the race tomorrow as your site does load a lot quicker in FF3. So thanks for checking for me.

So Thanks for checking the Formula 1 mechanised image I posted to your drop.io, wow, I have to say that I am really surprised that this is the real stuff, it was just stuck on the end display of one of the long shelving units which had sale items on both sides, With no big banners, and very under stated, not like Bernie at all.

Damn, it must be me then, just posted from FF3 again and although it didn’t crash it hasn’t appeared here. This is from FF2. This reminds me why I left IT and now work part time in a charity shop.

Thanks Lou, and Thanks for putting up with my grumpy tweets yesterday after finding out Silverstone testing had sold out an hour after I found out I could have that Wednesday off. I was really looking forward to go to. We will have to make sure we pre-plan a SidePodCast meet up there next year.

for some reason, he’s never quite fathomed merchandising. given it normally goes hand-in-hand with profit, i cannot imagine why.

although it didn’t crash it hasn’t appeared here.

found it in the moderation queue. akismet filter didn’t like the commandN link, which is annoying because we love it!

shoot. although i’m not sure it’ll be any good anyway, given 90% of the track appears to have been roped off :(

;) As i say anytime ;) there is always next year ;) I’m more likely to be going next year, cause I will hopefully be driving so transport will not be so much of an issuse… I’m definatly gonna go to silverstone for either testing or the race next year (given silverstone may not be hosting the British GP in the future i’d kinda like to go)

I do not always have access to the Internet during a GP weekend and we don’t get TV coverage (other than expensive paid service) - so through Twitter Vee8 gives me SMS notices. This might be useful to you!

90%?? there’s going to be a lot of people trying to get into a small space then.

Hopefully Silverstone will be able to keep F1 as there’s not really any other track in the UK that could cope with Bernie’s demands in order to get the race, I wonder if the UK based teams would stay in F1 without a UK race?

Thanks, I just turned off the Real Player video download plugin for FF so hope that this comments ends up on SidePodCast or it’s a defrag for this PC tonight.

Most 16 years old’s around where I live are still out causing trouble, and that’s just the girls, the 16 year old boys are to drunk to even move. but glad your not like any of them.

So have you worked out what you are going to do for the next 4 months yet?

Will if I remember right she has her ticket for the Goodwood Festival of Speed so maybe if your going there you could all meet up with Christine and ‘me’ and cause mayhem. I’m really looking forward to see what pictures she takes there, have you seem her photos on Flickr?

Didn’t you see all the adverts about Mozilla trying to break the record for the most software downloads in 24 hours on Tuesday? They even had parties all over the world for it. Check out AmberMac from command.tv video from the party in Toronto

They had over 8 million downloads that day, and thats with a 10am start which killed their own site not long after the 24 hours started.

The final release of FF3 is a lots quicker than FF2, and the Flash update seems to be fine, I turned off the RealPlayer oneclick video download plugin and it stopped crashing when posting comments, although now of course I can’t quickly download embedded videos.

aha Not sure any of my friends cause mayhem ;) I live in the middle of no where and with no bus i kinda can’t get out of a night, even if i wanted to ;) anyways i would prefer to chat about f1 on sidepodcast, as i have few friends who i can chat about it with. Having said that i am going to goodwood with one of my friends…i think dragging her along may be more appropriate actually :D but she likes cars (well kinda), knows abit about f1, and has listened to afew podcasts :D She will have to cope :)

So have you worked out what you are going to do for the next 4 months yet?

erm kinda…getting a job is high up the list…so is going out and taking lots of photos…Dad plans to start teaching me how to drive in our field…starting my A2 photography… getting exam results…watching f1…oh and relaxing (possibly enjoying any good weather we may have) ;)

I would love to meet Lou in person - very cheerful and reads everything people say.

aww *blushes* your too kind :)

Will if I remember right she has her ticket for the Goodwood Festival of Speed

yep thats right, for the Saturday :D

I’m really looking forward to see what pictures she takes there

I’ve just realised i’m going to have to buy another SD card…
