Live Commenting: Britain - The Race
After what might possibly be the season’s most dramatic qualifying session, we now head into race day.
Right now it’s raining a lot, and doesn’t show any immediate sign of stopping. The sky is very grey, with no glimpse of a break on the horizon. It’s also blustery and cold. Not the perfect conditions for a Formula 1 car by any means!
While the line up at the front of the grid is certainly one for the history books, we’re looking forward to the run through the first section all the way down to Stowe. What can the out of position Massa and Kubica bring to the race, especially considering Felipe’s charge through the field last year? It may be DC’s last home GP but he’s been outclassed by his teammate so far this weekend, he’ll be looking to make amends on a heavier strategy.
We’re sitting in the grandstands overlooking Magotts and Becketts, wave if you spot us on TV.
A selection of useful links for today’s action
We’re opening this thread exceptionally early today, probably some kind of record in fact. Do keep us abreast of your movements, plans and thoughts throughout today.

Cold. Shattered. Sick.
Not complaining, though.

Shame it’s raining for you. But what a showcase for F1 it will be? ITV are clearly expecting a huge home race bump. They were doing a lot of explaining of the rules yesterday.
The first couple of laps are going to be mega regardless of if it rains. But if it rains the whole race will be amazing.
Here in south london it’s actually sunny and quite windy.

Morning all,
I get so annoyed when I have to listen to all that stuff, but there’s usually something I never understood and was too scared to ask
I’m hoping for rain - in the UK and here in Italy. I may be an Australian, but I don’t like heatwaves.
The Italian newspapers this morning have an interview with Felipe “We’re not fast” Massa. and refer to the positions 1 and 2 as “crazy”. my italian is improving…

Wet Races…Monaco…. Ayrton would be proud.
It was a very wet GP2 race. Well done to the organisers for starting that one. No doubt the F1 drivers would have been complaining that it was too dangerous.

According to the BBC, the band of rain has been moving across the country faster than predicted yesterday - and the rain could miss the GP. If it does rain, expect shorter showers, rather than long periods of rain

I think you are missing that Mark can drive in the wet! (remember Japan?)
Plus a wet track might even things up a little bit and allow Mark the chance of a giant killing act.

even though it’s somewhat sad to see silverstone go, bernie does have a valid point. it was either somewhere else or no British GP. Simple as that. A few football teams have done it for new stadiums or for new stands. The Scottish Rugby Union did it for Murrayfield. The difference is Arsenal ar guaranteed to play at the Emirates for a set number of games over a set number of years and the fans knew the people in charge.
No-one (I assume) has heard of this guy and we all know Bernie can pull the plug at zero notice.
No-one genuinely believes the race is going to Donington so why would anyone invest their own money in it. The only reason he is looking at a debenture scheme is because he can’t raise money any other way. No professional investors and clearly either cannot get a loan or isn’t prepared to put his assets up to get a loan.
