Live Commenting: Hungary - The Race

Race day in Hungary and it’s hot. According to Stuart in the comments, the track temperature is up to 35C already, and only likely to get hotter.

Post-qualifying yesterday, we learned that Bourdais had received a five-place grid drop for impeding Heidfeld. Personally, I think this is a bit harsh, but no doubt it makes Heidfeld feel slightly better and masks the fact that he still hasn’t put his qualifying woes behind him. Teammate Kubica starts from a much better position up front in fourth, and I’m looking on him to get a good start and mix it up with the McLarens.

At a track where there is very little overtaking, McLaren’s 1-2 makes them almost unbeatable, especially considering how strong Hamilton has been recently. It may be that Hamilton can get his third consecutive win, but it would be even better if Kovalainen could get his maiden victory, proving his extended contract is worthwhile.

As for the rest, and I’m now counting Ferrari in that bunch, Raikkonen may get stuck behind Glock in the Toyota, and if Glock is capable of a Trulli-train himself, Kimi will want to put his foot down. I’m also curious to watch the battle between Alonso, Webber, Trulli and Piquet at the bottom of the top ten. We know the Renault drivers like a battle, and Alonso will be hoping to get the upper hand this weekend. Keep your eye on Vettel as well, in 11th, as the Toro Rosso has appeared strong so far in Hungary, and has whatever fuel load the team desire.

    Good thinking… Much more sensible.

I think Massa might well take Kovi off of the line. The even side is going to be very dusty. So Alonso might well take Kimi off the start.

You aren’t going to get away with a Murray Walker today.

I don’t know. I mean he probably doesn’t have any fuel on board so he’ll probably just pit on lap 10 and then tool around at the back. So he’ll probably not really hold anyone up. Even though we’ve gone to all this effort with the names ;)

was tinkering until the small hours, but am awake now.

haven’t had chance to finish all the fixes requested, but may have time before the race starts, we shall see.

    my top 5:

    - kovi
    - hamilton
    - massa
    - kubica
    - raikkonen

i’m going for a kovi win, because i think he’s driving worse than ever at the moment, so he’s bound to prove once and for all, i’ve no idea what i’m talking about.

    Good morning/afternoon everyone,

After a week in Munich, I am back in time for F1. I managed to get near the BMW headquarters, but never went to the actual museum or did the plant tour. I only had the weekend for sightseeing and I wasn’t going to drag along a non-F1 fan either ;) So I still managed to see a few things - new cars and a few interactive exhibits about technology for the kiddies and techies amongst us.

But I did see the F1 car on display, took a few photos, which I am busy taking off my camera as we speak. But here’s a question which I posed to one of the people standing around - in terms of cars, what does the word “lemon” mean? In Australia, if you refer to a lemon, it means that you bought a bad car that needs constant repairs - yet here BMW was using the lemon as a sign of “spring”. Seemed a little odd here to have all the new cars on display with lemons…. Different world, different culture I guess.

Now to catching up on the podcasts :)

motorsport vision have really uppped their tv advertising recently…i wish they’d make decent adverts though
