A Change Will Do You Good
Please do not forget to update your Fantasy Racers team.
How I do look forward to the Friday of a race weekend, when I get to share my latest scheme for my Fantasy Racers team.
You’ve got until 5 o’clock BST to alter your teams, which gives you a good few hours. You can even wait until after FP2 if you so desire.
Personally, I have no need to watch those drivers pootling round that track, I can make all the decisions I need based on a simple system. This week it is all the drivers whose surname falls between A and C.
Here is my team:
| Driver | Price | |
| David Coulthard | 6.40 | |
| Fernando Alonso | 9.90 | |
| Jenson Button | 6.50 | |
| Rubens Barrichello | 6.50 | |
| Sébastien Bourdais | 5.10 | |
| Total | 34.40 | |
I predict that this will not be a strong weekend for Sidepodcast Racers, but I have faith in the arbitrary system. Anything can happen at a new track.
So, make adjustments to your team, or not, as you desire, and let us know in the comments who you’ve chosen and why.

I’m gonna wait till after FP2 to make my mind up i think. I am wondering whether to have Vettel or not…. any time i have him in my team he never gets to the end of the first lap…..

- There appears to be a glitch concerning Heidfeld - I seriously doubt he will be the slowest qualifer!
- Barrichello, Bourdais and Trulli are unlikely to make it through Q1.
- Sutil will just fail to get into Q2 while Fisichella will just succeed.
- Safely in Q2, but progressing no further, are Glock, Vettel and Webber.
- Coulthard may make Q3 but probably won’t.
The top 6 for qualifying are predicted to be:
Raikkonen-Massa
Button-Hamilton
Alonso-Kovalainen
The top 6 for the race are predicted to be:
Massa-Button (lou is predicted to be extremely happy)
Kovalainen-Alonso
Hamilton-Kubica
My comparitor update is currently uploading.

My team of Lewis Hamilton, Heikki Kovalainen and Nick Heidfeld has given me my two highest scores of the season in the last two races so I intend to make a few minor changes to keep the drivers on their toes. Out go Heikki and Nick and we welcome back to the team Kimi Raikkonen accompanied by a new addition Timo Glock. The additional $1.9 of our budget will be used to hire translators for Timo as translating things into German is not as easy as you would think.

I see we have added another two new players to the league and have just started our 7th page of players. I think it is safe to say Dank’s idea was a success and I look forward to next season when we could have 200 players in from the start.

After it predicted a podium for Glock I am saying nothing. Even Ali didn’t believe that one but Button on a podium?

lol yeah i know it’s unlikely but there is meant to be a high number of safelty cars predicted, and it’s a new circuit - anything could happen….
… i’m not getting my hopes up though. The prediction itself is enough for me

Too right I didn’t - that last-minute modification looked ridiculous. But it is nice to see the comparitor tracks surprises OK.

I’m predicting a 1-2 for Ferrari this weekend. So I expect the following to happen with my drivers:
Sutil - at least finishing the race 2 laps behind: 35 - 55 points
Massa - 1st or 2nd, with pole or fastest lap: 177 - 247 points
Webber - between 7th and 9th: 77 - 97 points
Vettel - between 6th and 10th: 67 - 107 points
Glock - between 6th and 10th - 67 - 107 points
TOTAL: 423 (optimistic realism) to 613 (extreme optimism)
I was thinking about renault, but I think their brakes will suffer a lot in Valencia (remember Canada?), so I dropped them both. I believe the McLarens and BMWs are not that strong this weekend, so I expect to see Hamilton on 3rd and Kovi, Kubica and Heidfeld mixing with Vettel, Webber and the Toyotas from 4th to 8th. And I also expect a couple of SC periods so some guys from the back of the grid can make a good race (probably the Hondas with they don’t make it to Q3).
Well, after the race we’ll see how far I was from reality

That is a detailed prediction Felipe. I can see other people being encouraged to forecast their scores and how they will get the points.
I wonder if you can do spread betting on a fantasy racers score?

felipe, you may have saved my backside with that one. i was almost committed to alonso there. hmmm.

I’m now in a dilemma over which Toyota driver to have.

Well, I hope I am right, otherwise Christine could score more points than you, as she got Alonso
Of course my bet depends heavily on Massa’s race. And why did I choose Massa to lead my Ferrari 1-2? Because he has far less people betting on him.
And because he usually qualifies better than Raikonen and with safety car possibility, this can be a huge advantage…
My target is to be in the first page of sidepodcast fantasy racers. I’m currently in 32nd position, so I hope this bet is enough to reach top 25.

This is why I was telling to to talk to Christine’s shirt, “ME”, with the teams comparing this circuit to Circuit de Gilles Villeneuve so much, I figure I might as well try predicting Canada-like results, Now I wonder who in this forum did really well in Canada? I am still bent like a pretzel over which RBR driver to pick, after all, DC did get third place there…

I feel that is one of the better team for value. All of the drivers have done well the last few races. All can get into the points. Also, with the way the safety car might come out, all have a slim chance of getting a podium
August 22nd, 2008 at 6:14 pmJordan Allen said:
Has anyone decided to try that combine ANT and Sato and go after Christine with three good drivers stratgy? Looks like you are going to need Lewis/Kimi and Massa to pull it off but I think It still can be done…
August 22nd, 2008 at 7:12 pmme said:
cool felipe, we’ll watch your progress
ooh, i see. didn’t get that. i thought you was suggesting i bet on the stig.
August 22nd, 2008 at 7:14 pmme said:
that’s a good selection dan. the only downside is you have x2 toyota drivers.
why do i feel fantasy racers is starting to get a touch more competitive in this second half of the season?

Why does the guy who’s team is in 102nd place think that there are problems with the race stratgies of the people whose teams are in 32nd, 26th, and 3rd places?
All well, I guess that is why the guy whose team is in the 102nd spot is in the 102nd spot….
