You Know We’re Going to Talk About It

For reasons that I may never understand, we’ve been coerced into another live show this week. There’s been no time for planning so it’ll be exactly the same as last time, although maybe a bit shorter.

Because it’s such a hot topic, there’s no question the FIA / Ferrari / Massa pitlane incident will crop up at some point and just to throw a curveball into the proceedings, we’re going to attempt to take some skype calls.

If you’ve been stewing over the FIA’s ineptitude for the past 24 hours, now might be a good time to get it out of your system. The number is 0121 28 87225 if you’re in the UK, or +44 121 28 87225 from elsewhere. You can also call us using the Skype name sidepodcast which has the added benefit of being free. Please remember you’re live to the world though, so try and keep it clean!

The plan is to go online at 3pm BST, although we’re running a little late already. Please join us if you can, and click the red logo in the corner to be directed to the Live Commenting Live… Thing. We’ll be there shortly!

Update: The chat thingy went a bit awry, so we did a second broadcast.

Big thanks to Alex from sofaf1 for being our technical guinea pig on this one.

My guess is that it will be a return issue. IE sometimes renders returns. It is supposed to be whitespace independent but sometimes it forgets. If you take out the returns between the pictures it might just work.

Now they are thinking of changing Massas engine before Spa, they still have the free change for Massa available. Plus the Ferrari V8’s do seem fragile in hotter conditions - which shouldn’t be a problem in Belgium. Although you can never predict the weather there.

That is the point of being live. You don’t know what you are going to get. If it was always super slick it would be boring. You have two tings that are always going to screw up somewhere along the line. Real people and technology. Clearly ‘me’ can’t talk and look over his shoulder at the same time

Actually my point was that everytime ‘me’ said looking over my shoulder at the comments he fluffed his next line. Nothing to do with sound quality.

i’m thinking the am show would be just live, and maybe put out as a download “as-live”, but never edited. the evening show would be exactly what we just did.

This sounds good, by the way.

I feel like this week was just… embarrassing. Last week felt good, just too long. This week we wanted it to be better, but in the end it was all a bit hotchpotch.

I actually thought that this week’s show was considerably better than the first. Up until around three quarters of the way through, it was all going extremely well, and came across as well polished. It was only the last segment when ‘me’ and yourself struggled to get your words out, but that’s perfectly understandable given that this was only your second effort. No doubt live show number three will be even better.

might be tricky that one. only because f1 digest doesn’t go out until 9pm(ish). so that’s the earliest we can do it. brazil will presumably be worse, but fuji and china will be afternoon shows.

oi forgot about f1digest.. yeah i understand… may have to miss a few of the live shows then… but to be honest it depends how many study periods i get on a monday as to how awake i need to be ;) even if you start at 10 though, surely it will be finished by 1 in the morning?

I kept you up? I thought it was the other way round.

it was worth, shoulda known IE would cause trouble.

So any guesses about how long the show will be?

I’m going to go for whatever Ollie says.

    me too!
