Parade Lap - Italy

Sidepodcast logo

Ahead of Italy, we gather together for a relaxing discussion about press releases, chicane regulations and of course, the weather. Plus there’s a champagne competition a couple of expert callers, and as always, some good songs.

The music played in this show:

  • Amy MacDonald, Mr Rock & Roll
  • Ingrid Michaelson, The Way I Am
  • Kristoffer Ragnstam, Swing That Tambourine
  • Lost in Rome, Katherine
  • The Maine, The Town’s Been Talkin’
  • Adrina Thorpe, Fly, Fly, Fly
  • Info about these artists and more available on the music page.

We’d love to hear your feedback about the concept of this show (it’s still new, you know), and about anything in particular in this pre-Italy episode. Also, let us know how you feel about the idea it being longer, as we seemed to struggle to fit in all our topics.

    @Me

    Forgot to say, many congrats to MediaTemple and you for Live Commenting Live… Thing being able to cope with nearly 5,600 comments last race weekend.

    That puts take months total comments to over 11,000 already, and it’s only the 17th, and I though last months total of 8,447 was good.

    With two race weekends, one of which a race weekend, to go still month may see you break the 20,000 comments mark.

    If you thing I’m just guessing at these figures you can view a Google doc spreadsheet with two sheets of data on it, one for the monthly totals, the 2nd for the race weekends.

    spreadsheets.google.com link

    Hope these are of interest to you and Christine, and yes I have been a little bored.

    I have read the Gdoc help file but I can’t find the little ‘Pie Chart’ button anywhere. With out that button I’m pretty stuck.

    Think I may have worked it out, Edit>insert>chart and then move it to its own sheet.

    So what what you like to see in a chart then ‘me’, I have done a few test charts if they are of any use.

    Not sure what Pie Chart button they’re talking about. I have uploaded a pic to drop.io of how I insert charts…

    Thanks Christine

    It confused me that Google called it a ‘Pie Chart’ button and then used a picture of a line chart for that button.

    I also though that the ‘edit>insert>chart’ was for you to ‘insert a chart’ that you already had, and not to ‘make a chart’, who wrote that program anyway?

    So are any of the charts any good? or do I need to select different/less columns?

    very good, exactly what i had in mind. the only additional that might be useful is similar charts minus the “live” posts, just because they unfairly skew the scale out of proportion.

    so excluding live commenting, how does the trend look?

    @me, I have reworked the spreadsheet in a new file at

    http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=p6C8ilL3X_9cmHvm6BxB4Wg&hl=en_GB

    Charts 4 and 5 may be what you mean, but 6 and 7 are of interest to.

    Oddly enough, everytime I go away and leave my site alone, popularity increases as well. I think people are trying to tell me something! :)

    if you’re happy to keep these up-to-date, we can link to them from somewhere and track throughout the rest of the year?

    up to you, am more than happy with what you’ve done already :)

    @me

    I only update them about once a week. I use that spreadsheet to prove to people that MediaTemple running WordPress can cope with thousands of comments a day so I will be keeping them updated. So please feel free to link away if you want to.
