And I Would Listen to 300 More

Quite honestly, you couldn’t have scripted it better.

I’m not sure how it happened, maybe the stars are all aligned or something, but Tuesday 7th October, marks the one year anniversary of F1 Minute, which by some freaky coincidence also happens to tie in with the 300th episode of the show.

F1 Minute celebration

That’s 300 minutes or 18,000 seconds of Formula One news delivered to your ears in the past 12 months, all from the lungs of one girl. if you listened to every show back-to-back, and they are archived should you fancy the challenge, you’d have exactly 5 hours of entertainment at your disposal.

I have to take my hat off to Christine, because when she first suggested the idea I figured it would last about a week before the colossal amount of work would bury her.

She hasn’t stopped though, nor shown any hint of slowing down. Even when she was unwell post Silverstone the minutes kept on coming. On two occasions there was a requirement for multiple shows in a single day, and despite a minor slip up on my part not so long ago, I’ve listened to every single one of them.

This evening we’ll drink a glass or two of champaaagne and say thank you to the F1 circus for providing a seemingly never-ending stream of fascinating stories, as well as one to everybody who’s subscribed, listened or left comments in the past 365 days.

Thank you one and all!

I have to say a big thank you not just for you finding things to say when then circus does provide you with something, but also when it really doesn’t! Kudos Christine!

Just a question though… isn’t there 365 (or in this case, 366) days in a year? What happened to the other 66 days? :)

during the off-season the show doesn’t run at weekends (no races and hardly any news). so only 5 days a week, and i think the xmas week was a holiday too.

also earlier this year we were away… somewhere.

come to think of it, when does she work? :p

Why have you not sold your cloning technology yet? :D

    Keep Podcasting…..

I am sure for a fraction of the money spent on KERB’s development all of the teams could afford the air freight costs to Montreal….

On the other hand, is not Circuit Gilles Villeneuve supposed to be able to showcase KERB as this is supposed F1’s hardest-braking circuit? I mean they are called “Canada” Brakes for a reason right?

The sad thing for F1 is at one time I really did not consider Montreal a great circuit, but then in those days Silverstone, Bridge was the worst corner on the circuit as it was a chicane that lead to Woodcote.

Tamburello at Imola was to be taken flat in whatever gear you where in, and Villeneuve turned to the right.

If your engine did not blow up five seconds after being checked out at the Hockenheimring, you where obviously going to slow, it was only a 45 lap race. (And it was my favourite F1 circuit at the time.

Eau Rouge was a corner to be feared. Now, the morons take it in top gear flat and do not bottom out. And the Bus Stop was a Bus Stop.

Montreal came after these circuits, so around the middle of the pack. Now with Imola gone, and Silverstone, Hockenheimring, Spa losing their manhood, Montreal has become my favourite circuit as presents the drivers with something of a challenge either threading a needle at turn 13 at the highest possible speed or making the brakes last the full distance.

    Now what do we have?

    Morning/afternoon all,

Well, the China crisis was averted yesterday and I made my flight. I’ve just arrived at my hotel after quite an epic journey and am celebrating with a can of Kirin from the vending machine. I know it’s only 2.45pm here, but as the song goes – it’s five o’clock somewhere…

Weather report? Overcast. Can’t see Mt Fuji.

This hotel is doing very well out of F1. Williams, McLaren and FIF1 are here. Sam Michael is just checking in and I ran into James Key coming out of the lift.

I daresay the big cheeses of McLaren are staying elsewhere, though.

    Right: dinner beckons.

has there been much price hiking because of the GP, a la singapore?

ha! i guess that depends on whether max wins and formula 2 takes off, or whether bernie wins and gp3 is the future :)

speaking of formula 2, jonathan palmer gave the official briefing at Williams’ Conference Centre the other day. I’ve also seen a render of the F2 car and I would say it’s a mix of various different single seater cars such as Formula BMW, Formula Palmer Audi and Formula Renault. It also features high cockpit sides like the current F1 cars. Yet while it looks to be quite a small car, it will still pump out, boost included, 450hp!

Hello to everyone – I`m travelling a bit at the moment, but not anywhere near F1 circuits sadly. Last week I was trying to scam my way into a press event in Switzerland with Roger Federer but I couldn`t get past security. Must get me one of those press passes…

So I`ll be watching the Japan race from my hotel room in Lyon. Life could be worse :)

People who don’t drink alcohol, whether that’s because they’re too young, want to watch their health, are barred from it by religion/country or (in my case) simply don’t like the stuff.

That’s great! Sounds like getting the visa into China is almost as difficult as getting pole there will be. I take it the journey to the hotel belongs in the same category. Hope you have a nice relaxing weekend of good racing.
