Live: After The Shuttle Lands, We Panel

Here it is, then, the final episode of Sidepodpanel for the first series. It’s been an amazing run, so many good thoughts and subtle mentions of Franck. Our final show is ably hosted by Steven Roy who has become something of a regular on the panel, and should know how to handle us rowdy lot.

For a while it seemed as though we wouldn’t have anybody on the panel to talk, but we may just be able to fill up this last show. Join us in the comments, if you’re not on the show itself, as anyone can get points.

Live: Is There Anybody Out There?

Here we are for another recording of F1 Debrief, with a panel scheduled for afterwards. It may be a short panel though, as we only have one confirmed guest. Nevertheless, we’ve got an entire debrief to get through before we find out how things are looking after Top Gear.

We’re scheduled to go live at 4pm GMT, so this post is a little bit late, but never mind. Please click the triangle in the top corner to visit the live commenting live thing, and we’ll see you shortly.

Live: Penultimate Series One Podpanel

The best laid plans and all that. We had intended to complete Sidepodpanel before Top Gear, but now it has been bumped to after Jeremy & co do their stuff. We did manage to complete the Debrief though, and it’s being edited as we speak.

This time we’re planning to go live at 9pm GMT, and because we’re all set up already - it really should be at that time. Feel free to live comment Top Gear if you’re watching. We won’t be but please use this space as you see fit. Dan Brunell is hosting the Podpanel this week, the pinger is no more, and we’ll see what other chaos we can create.

Live: Marginally More Exciting than I Spy

F1 Debrief has been resting on it’s laurels while we came to terms with the season just gone. Also because we couldn’t fit it in with that Top Gear show returning. Anyway, it’s back, and we’re starting earlier so that everything can go to plan. Just like it always does.

Today we’re catching up with all the news we have missed over the past couple of weeks, and of course getting some feedback as well. Sidepodpanel is scheduled for straight afterwards, although that may change depending on how the time goes and who is around. It’s all very flexible, as always. We’re set to go live at 4pm(ish) GMT. Sorry if it’s a bit later than expected, but we got a little bit busy playing I Spy.

Live: What a Way to Celebrate Your 18th

We’re back once again with another Sidepodpanel. The show seems to have taken over, so much so that there’s a fierce debate going on in the comments about how it’s going to fit in from now on. Whilst I can’t tell you anything definitive about that yet, what I can tell you is that today’s show will start after Mr Clarkson & co have finished their car show.

The panel will be ably hosted by Scott Woodwiss today, and it’s his birthday when the clock strikes midnight, so don’t forget to wish him many happy returns as he takes the host’s chair for the first time. We should be starting at 9pm GMT and hope to get Skype up and running much sooner than last time.

Live: Since When do Our Lives Revolve Around Clarkson?

Following on from last week’s show over-running, this week we’re focusing solely on Sidepodpanel. It was supposed to be our weekend off, but holiday’s are for wimps, so we’re back and ready to get panelling.

This week Andy takes on the task of being the host, and he’s got a lot to live up to after first-ever guest host Alex. However, he’s been on every ‘Podpanel so far, so experience is on his side.

We don’t know what questions or topics he has got up his sleeve, but we’re looking forward to it immensely. I’m ready with my pinger to reward those who meet my exacting standards, and boo those who don’t. There’s a raging debate over whether we will feature two or three teams, and as host, I think that is Andy’s decision. Well, that and the capabilities of Skype will be the deciding factor.

Live: Speechless… Gonna be a Short Show!

Technically this is the post for the live streaming of the podcast later on this evening, but first we have to watch Top Gear, and apparently there is demand to live comment that, so this is the place.

The race was unbelievable, I can’t write too much here because I haven’t formulated my thoughts yet. Make sure you start preparing your own, either for the comments, email, voicemail, or live on the show via Skype. We’ve got a Debrief and a Sidepodpanel to get through, so there’ll be plenty of chance to have your say.

We should be going live at 9pm GMT, and hopefully it will be just as good a show as it was a race. We want to be able to send the season off in style.

Live: So What are You Baking for the Race?

It’s the last Grand Prix of the season, and we’re hosting a two-hour bumper edition of the Parade Lap as an introduction to the deciding race. However, no one wants to talk about that pesky sport business, we all want to know how the cupcake is going.

For those not in the know, the other half of Sidepodcast, the one that doesn’t know an oven from an iron, promised to bake a cupcake in order to get two regulars onto tonight’s Sidepodpanel. This is where we find out how he got on.

We’ll also have the usual weather forecasts, race predictions, thoughts on qualifying, and chilled out music, to lead us nicely into live commenting the race itself.

We’ll be going live at 2pm GMT, but feel free to make yourselves at home beforehand, and get those cupcake-gate discussions going. See you soon.

Live: What Time is It? Not Too Sure

It feels like a long time since we recorded a podcast without having a race to talk about, but that’s exactly what’s on the cards this evening. There’s still plenty of news to discuss, and a Sidepodpanel scheduled directly after the Debrief recording is finished.

Here at Sidepodcast Towers, we are struggling to work out what time it is, as Daylight Savings came to an end during Saturday night, and we got an hour back. I think. We streamed an Inside Track recording yesterday and were on time, so if that happens again today, you’ll know we’ve got it sussed.

There were so many buffering problems last week, that we took the initiative and set up our own Sidepodcast video server. It’s something that had been intended as an off-season project, but the need became too great, and many late nights followed.

Alive Alive-O

If you were following last Sunday’s live streaming show, or if you’ve watched the replay, you’ll likely be aware that we were suffering from streaming problems.

Despite our best efforts, both the primary live server (hosted by Justin.tv) and the secondary live server (hosted by Ustream.tv) failed us. It’s not the first week we’ve suffered problems either, and it appears that as those two services gain in popularity so their reliability similarly suffers.

A solution would be to run our own streaming server, which is what we’ve spent the best part of the week figuring out.

Because we’re new to all this, it seems like a good plan to give it a road test before Sunday. We were planning to record the green screen for last episode of Inside Track today, and as that was the show that started the live ball rolling, it seems only appropriate that it’s the first show to run on the new equipment.
