Video 24 - A Maiden F1 Victory

Sidepodcast TV logoShare:

Last weekend in Canada there was a new man standing upon the top step of the podium, Robert Kubica. It was also the first time his team BMW Sauber F1 had won a Grand Prix and they did it in style with a perfect 1-2.

Formula One has been dominated by just two teams and a handful of drivers for the past 18 months, so we figured this was an event worth documenting. In the process, we catch up with Kubica and teammate Heidfeld along with big boss man Mario Theissen on their way back from the podium celebrations. But don’t you go pretending that a gutted Nick Heidfeld doesn’t make you want to cry, you know he does.

Video 23 - F1 Rewind (Pilot)

It’s a new year, so a good time to pilot our latest video idea. It’s a concept for a show that we’ve been kicking around for a while now, and finally decided the time was right to pull it all together. A weird decision, given it’s all about Formula 1 news and there’s very little around at the moment.

Anyway, as a pilot, the emphasis is on you guys to let us know what you think, and whether it’s worth the bandwidth it consumes. Also as a pilot, it is obviously new and may face tweaks at any moment - like the fact that I called it a weekly show, which may have been a little bit hasty.

Either way, the important thing for now is to watch, soak up the F1 vibe and share your opinion.

Video 22 - 2007 in Video

Sidepodcast TV logoShare:

With 2007 almost behind us, we’ve put together some clips covering our last 12 months in video podcast land. Whilst the quality of the first videos are frankly abysmal, it’s fun to have a brief look over our shoulders. If we can improve as much again in the next 365 days, we’ll be mighty happy.

Kudos also goes to PodShow, for getting the Manic Street Preachers onto the Podsafe Music Network, so that we can play them. Turn this one up loud!

Video 21 - An Alternative Christmas Message

Sidepodcast TV logoShare:

The Queen may have her annual Christmas message, she may even be on YouTube this year. However, Sidepodcast still has the first lady of F1 podcasting and she’s posh too. So we’ll go one better this year with an alternate (vaguely Formula 1 themed) festive message.

We’d love to promise it’ll cheer you up and make your day, but given some of this years scandals, you might want to keep the antidepressants on hand just in case.

Merry Christmas to one and all!

It’s the last race of the 2007 season, and three drivers still in with a shot at the title, so it’s going to be a corker! In order to go out in style, we’ve pulled out all the stops to bring you the freshest news, an in-depth track guide and the state of play at the top of the tables.

Don’t miss the very last ING Race Index of the season as well as checking in with Alex Wurz on why he’s missing this last hurrah in Sao Paulo.

The drivers’ championship is heading to a climax, and it could all be over this weekend. Join Christine as she takes a look at the penultimate race of the 2007 season.

With long straights and tight turns, this is a particularly technical track, and one which requires more than its fair share of aero efficiency. Cars will be running with a high level of wing, while braking stability is of paramount importance.

With many teams already focusing efforts on their 2008 challengers, could this be a chance for smaller teams to shine?

Video 18 - Japan Preview

Sidepodcast TV logoShare:

Many have bemoaned the lack of Suzuka on the 2007 calendar, yet the Fuji Speedway makes for an interesting addition to this years season. Herman Tilke and his team have been let loose on this classic Japanese circuit, but what surprises lay in store for the drivers and the teams this weekend?

There are still aspects of the track that remain a mystery to even the most prepared in the paddock, but ING set us straight on the details as they rate this circuit against the best of the rest in the illustrious ING Race Index.

So join Sidepodcast as we take a leap into the great unknown for this year’s Japanese Grand Prix.

Video 17 - Belgium Preview

Sidepodcast TV logoShare:

Following on from the politics and the controversy surrounding the FIA hearing in Paris this week, it’ll be good to get back to some racing. Luckily, there’s no place better to go racing than the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

After a one year hiatus, the circuit returns to this year’s calendar with a revised final chicane and revamped pit-area. Eau Rouge may be flat in a modern F1 car but there are plenty of challenges in store for our drivers, so join Christine as she takes a fantastic roller coaster ride through the Ardennes to see what all the fuss is about.

We also discover what the ING Race Index thinks of this place, as well as taking a look at the championship tables to see how the FIA’s verdict on Thursday mixed things up.

Video 16 - GPlive 2007

Sidepodcast TV logoShare:

During May of this year, we turned up for the inaugural GPlive event at Donington Park. Although there were a few organisational drawbacks and a lack of motivation about the event, there was still loads to see and film. Where else could you get to see all those beautiful old machines flying round the track, as if they were actually racing again? Where else would you find two generations of Brundle interviewing two legendary drivers?

Video 15 - Italy Preview

Sidepodcast TV logoShare:

It’s the penultimate European race, and that means we’re heading to Monza in Italy. Ferrari’s home Grand Prix stands out as the only low-downforce event remaining on this years calendar, so expect to see some very skinny rear wings as the team’s fight to tame the legendary asphalt.

The status quo won’t change much though, the two leading teams will still be battling it out at the front in one of the closest run championships for a long time. Don’t miss Sidepodcast’s preview of the Italian Grand Prix as we look at the recently revised circuit.
