Once again, Monaco is scheduled for the same weekend as the Indy 500. Grrrr!

Yeah, that really annoys me too. Monaco is still what I’ll watch…

Having the Grand Prix of Monaco on the same day as the Indy 500 is by no stretch new. Did not Graham Hill, Jackie Stewart, and Jim Clark all miss the Monaco Grand Prix because they where showing the Americans the benefits of a engine mounted behind the driver at the Indy?
You could always travel to North America to catch the Monaco Grand Prix live in the morning, wait around a few hours, watch the Indy live and to complete the day, there’s a Stock Car race called the Coco-Cola 600 miles, so from 7 am to 1 am the next day one can just camp in front of a TV set watching these three races.
Ah, the joys of living in Canada…..
February 7th, 2008 at 12:18 #4 - Lee Vilenski said:
Yeah, I’ll probably end up just watching the Monaco GP. No offence to the Indy, but it doesn’t capture my attention as much as F1 does.

Planning on attending any of these events, anyone?
Really, I am cheering the old 1989 Italian Constructor here…. really.

You know, I really do wish the organziator of the last F1 race at Silverstone give the FIA a really up yours by renaming the coners of the circuit to teh live cycle of the common fly from corpse through to maggots to fly….
So From Copse it needs to be reanmed Corpse. (As the Corpse will contain the egg of the fly)
Maggots can stay the same.
Becketts needs to be renamed pupa.
and Chapel needs to be renamed Housefly or adult.

Why would the FIA care about the corners? It’s Bernie that’s taking it away from them.

Why is France on the calendar AGAIN?!

Money, at a guess…
Having looked at our publishing schedule for 2009 I imagine I’ll have a similar beginning and end to the year, with a rejig in the middle: Australia, Malaysia, Monaco, Britain, Germany, Turkey, Belgium, Japan, China, Abu Dhabi.
This calendar may change, though – Bernie has talked about fiddling with some of the July-August dates to bring back the three-week break.
Anyway, Scott, don’t knock Magny-Cours – it’s not as bad as all that. One of very few circuits where you can see most of the track from the cheap seats…

I have a “preventative maintenance” type issue her, folks:
What happens if Sebastien Buemi is paired up with Sebastien Bourdais in the Toro Rosso next year? The accent on the “e” would suggest that they are both French-Speaking drivers so they both by rights should be called “Le Seb”.
My suggestion: Yet Buemi assume the haandle of “Le Seb” and Bourdais be known as “Kermit”.
Any other ideas?

I guess it will be Le Seb and Le Seb Deux.

le seb and de pomme de terre?

Hehehe, I think it would be tête de pomme de terre. Doesn’t exactly roll off the tongue, but I like your thinking. Maybe shorten it to TPT or something.

Lets review
F1 is suppose to be the top racing in the world.
But not in North America and Asia has to schedule their new races for the European Audience, But no more Europeans race because that would not allow for the series to be a world series.
Is everyone at Ferrari International Automative (FIA) or Ferrari must finish 1st (F1) talking out of their a** or are they high. (I did not think that they were based in Amsterdam but i could be wrong)
My Support and desire to watch F1 is getting less and less.
In western Canada the euro races are on before 7am so i won’t even try to watch them. (over half on the calender is gone, so why bother with the rest. why watch a 2 hour movie if you missed 1 hour of it).
What the hell am i going to do with all this extra time on race weekends?

It’ll be the British GP for me again next year, it’ll be 24 years with only 1 break.

I’m trying to go to Singapore, but it would be nice if I could do Britain as well, to give Silverstone a good send-off. (And then if Donington runs in 2010, I’m definitely going there as it’ll be three train stops and two miles away, so I won’t even need a lift…)
October 28th, 2008 at 11:09 #21 - Alianora La Canta said:
How about Le Seb(dais) and Le Seb(mi) (brackets for when differentiation is necessary)?
October 28th, 2008 at 11:11 #22 - Alianora La Canta said:
As for why the French Grand Prix is on the calender again (though I can’t see it in that list), I’d guess that the FIA might claim that it’s not taking it off the list until France asks for this to happen properly. Then it can penalise France for late cancellation if France doesn’t bother to do the paperwork…

I really want to get to Melbourne again this year. Seeing those cars in their shiny glory as they roll out for the first race of the new season is pretty intense.

well, looking on the bright side, we got to see lots of coverage from nations we otherwise wouldn’t have. the two south african commentators were pretty good on saturdays.

Off topic –
But am curious why your sidepodcasts – that are listed on TiVo’s VOD service – won’t download anymore? Did you all nix the 2008 season – even though it still shows them there? Better yet, did you even know you were listed on TiVo!!??
As to 2009 – Of course losing Canada (any N. America venue) blows! – and it’s all just fading away – Soon to be a Middle East only affiar it seems –
As to the New Rules and Regs – and the “changes” – Only seen the Ferrari F60 – and whilst most have said it’s “OK” – I think it’s ugly as sin…. Be interested to see what Mercedes has…
Cheers everyone – see you in March!

nope!
what, how, when? i’m not even sure how to get tivo in the uk, let alone figure out why stuff isn’t appearing. i don’t think we’ve changed anything though?
cheers for the tip-off falcon, will see what we can do.

Thanks for the reply… didn’t think I’d hear from ya
Either way, yes, on the TiVo DVR “network” (USA) – there’s a section to download sidepodcast(s)… Has the entire series from 2008 listed – but none are “active” to download – Hence the question…
Since it’s on my telly… am trying to sort a way to show you… Can I post an image here? Getting the marriage from PC desktop – to my TV/TiVo software, is proving to be a challenge…. So I went to TiVo.com – but it’s not listed in the VOD section – so can’t offer you a direct URL – sorry… Best I can offer is: https://www3.tivo.com/tivo-tco/cds/index.do
Will see what I can do.
Cheers

drop.io is your friend in these situations. pop over to:
http://drop.io/sidepodcast
click the add button to upload as many photos / screenshots as you have.
in the meantime, i’ll try and get in touch with tivo, see if they can help us. cheers again.

Seems to be sorted now – as I’m able to “select” from the list of SidePod Videos
So, not sure if it was just a temp glitch on TiVo’s side – or if you got hold of them and fixed things… Either way, it’s nice to have the podcasts on the Plasma now
!
I did have to use my TiVo DVR Desktop software, as SidePodCasts are not listed as “standard” offerings (per my link in my previous post) – That probably doesn’t make much sense to the Euro folk – but for us American TiVo DVR users… that’s what you need in addition to get Sidepodcasts onto the big screen -
Thanks again for your attention and help – and (despite these new regs) am looking forward to a fab 2009 racing year!
Cheers-
PS: I was able to get a screen grab of the TiVo software showing the 2008 Sidepodcast listings… and have posted that on drop.io – feel free to remove it as it really doesn’t have much to do with F1 eh?!

You know all is well with the world when Bernie can’t manage a two hour show, a rooky team rule the roost, Hamilton is contrite, despite driviving so well and Farrari have NO points at all…
I just Love it………….
