Podcast Perspective

A couple of weeks ago, with almost uncanny timing, we received some unprecedented feedback from two separate sources regarding our debut unto the podcasting world. At the time we were busying ourselves with all sorts of projects, but we took the information on board and referred to it when figuring out our 2008 plans.

Now that we’ve had a moment to catch breath, it seems only courteous to respond.

BlogF1

First up was a post entitled ‘F1 Podcasts: Do You Listen To Them?‘ from BlogF1, which detailed Ollie’s thoughts about Formula 1 podcasting this year. He raised a couple of points worth looking into further, most of which relate to how bad we are at promoting some of our own features.

For example, Ollie suggests:

What would be awesome - if possible - is if you could split a podcast up into chapters, much like on a DVD, and the chapter list with short description be included in a universal format somewhere within the audio file that makes up a podcast.

Video 22 - 2007 in Video

With 2007 almost behind us, we’ve put together some clips covering our last 12 months in video podcast land. Whilst the quality of the first videos are frankly abysmal, it’s fun to have a brief look over our shoulders. If we can improve as much again in the next 365 days, we’ll be mighty happy.

Kudos also goes to PodShow, for getting the Manic Street Preachers onto the Podsafe Music Network, so that we can play them. Turn this one up loud!

Video 21 - An Alternative Christmas Message

The Queen may have her annual Christmas message, she may even be on YouTube this year. However, Sidepodcast still has the first lady of F1 podcasting and she’s posh too. So we’ll go one better this year with an alternate (vaguely Formula 1 themed) festive message.

We’d love to promise it’ll cheer you up and make your day, but given some of this years scandals, you might want to keep the antidepressants on hand just in case.

Merry Christmas to one and all!

Episode 45 - 2007 in Words

2008 is fast approaching, but before we jump head first into next season, we’ve taken a couple of minutes to look back over the things we’ve said during the past 12 months.

Hopefully you’ll join us as we fire up the flux capacitor, pull the gullwing doors and scream to 88mph in search of Sidepodcast episodes lost in the archives. Marty McFly could not hold a candle to our ‘07 review… The tunes are pretty hot too.

Video 18 - Japan Preview

Many have bemoaned the lack of Suzuka on the 2007 calendar, yet the Fuji Speedway makes for an interesting addition to this years season. Herman Tilke and his team have been let loose on this classic Japanese circuit, but what surprises lay in store for the drivers and the teams this weekend?

There are still aspects of the track that remain a mystery to even the most prepared in the paddock, but ING set us straight on the details as they rate this circuit against the best of the rest in the illustrious ING Race Index.

So join Sidepodcast as we take a leap into the great unknown for this year’s Japanese Grand Prix.

Video 9 - Britain Preview Special

Sidepodcast TV logoShare:

As the British Grand Prix is Sidepodcast’s home race, we’ve pulled out all the stops to bring you the best F1 preview video to date.

First up, we’ve got exclusive footage from the recent test at Silverstone, where 9 of the 11 teams turned up to spend 3 days blasting around the English countryside. We also take a behind-the-scenes look at how mainstream television works with Formula 1 teams to bring fans closer to the action, when ex-drivers-turned-commentators Martin Brundle and Mark Blundell take to the Northamptonshire track in a pair of Williams F1 cars.

Additionally we have our usual fast lap around the circuit, this time Christine takes you around classic corners such as Copse and Becketts, names steeped in Grand Prix history - they don’t build ‘em like the used too. Finally we look back at last weeks French GP and check how the two championships are stacking up as we reach the halfway point of the 2007 season.

It’s an action packed show!
