Sidepodcast logo

Ahead of Italy, we gather together for a relaxing discussion about press releases, chicane regulations and of course, the weather. Plus there’s a champagne competition a couple of expert callers, and as always, some good songs.

The music played in this show:

  • Amy MacDonald, Mr Rock & Roll
  • Ingrid Michaelson, The Way I Am
  • Kristoffer Ragnstam, Swing That Tambourine
  • Lost in Rome, Katherine
  • The Maine, The Town’s Been Talkin’
  • Adrina Thorpe, Fly, Fly, Fly
  • Info about these artists and more available on the music page.

It’s All About Breath Control

Time once again for the Parade Lap, a nice chilled out way of starting the race build up. I say chilled out, but with everything going on at the moment, it might be that we talk about more than just waffles this week. Either way, we’ll be live for an hour before the ITV coverage starts in the UK.

We’ve got some good songs lined up, a couple of topics to get through, and of course, the most important thing of all for this morning: weather watch.

There’s a live stream available of the show, although it’s more about the audio than looking at the top of my head.

Hoping For Rain on Our Parade

Here is the first ever Parade Lap show, the brainchild of “me” and / or Steven Roy. We’re going live for an hour before the ITV build up coverage starts (in the UK), hoping to be a nice relaxing way to ease into race day.

We intend to chat for a bit, play some songs, and try and be slightly entertaining as we go about it. This is the first show, so your expectations should be realistic, just as Raikkonen’s will have to be for the race.

We’re live streaming, although it may just be the top of my head for now. We don’t anticipate this being a show you want to watch, just have playing in the background.

Episode 54 - Don’t Mention Fuel Burn Again

Our build up to the 2008 season continues - we’ve looked at the drivers and the teams, now it’s time to look at the regulation changes for this year.

Intro

Taking advice from the comments of this post, I’m tempted to withhold his show notes.

Good Week / Bad Week

Williams get a much needed cash boost and Super Aguri say they’ll be there, whilst Ron Dennis and Silverstone both get some bad press.

News and Views

McLaren have some unwelcome visitors to their factory and the resulting fall out just drags the espionage affair ever onward. We catch up with testing news, Vettel in a Red Bull, electronic flags and all the talk about Hamilton. Team Williams have two interesting tidbits about their drivers past, present and future.

Now I’m Telling You What To Say

We all like to make predictions, don’t we? I know I do, and I love to find out what other people think too.

Before the 2008 Formula 1 season gets underway, I really want to hear your predictions for the finishing order of the first race. I’m so keen, in fact, that I’m trying to make it really easy for you.

As mentioned on this week’s show, we have a free voicemail facility idly awaiting your call and I’ve even written you a script. It goes something like this:

Hi, I’m… [your name] and my predictions for the top three finishers in Australia are:

  • 3rd place… [driver name]
  • 2nd place… [driver name]
  • 1st place… [driver name]

So all you have to do is figure out who it’ll be!

Here’s one I made earlier:
