H.264 Flash Sample

This page has been created to demonstrate how Sidepodcast TV looks running inside the latest version of Flash Player. The new player allows native H.264 playback, and as we always export our shows in this format, it will save the time and hassle of re-encoding source material and should also maintain the original quality.

To view this properly you can download the player from Adobe.

Using JW FLV Player, we can view our iPhone encoded video podcast in a browser window.

That seems to play pretty well. The quality is pretty much perfect and it’ll save us a whole heap of hassle because we’ll only need to upload a single video and know that it can play on an iPhone, AppleTV and now on the Web.

Clearly we can’t implement such niceties immediately, because very few people will actually have this update installed, it’s something for the future though.

This looks neat - One of the things I like about Sidepodcast is that it discusses some of the technical aspect of Internet broadcasting as well as the Formula One content - this is really helpful to others like myself who also have to develop blogs with multimedia content but have no experience in this field and no one to really assist. It would be good to know what software you use to author both the audio and the video podcasts and how you prepare it for distribution. Thanks again for sharing this technical side of your podcast.

Thanks for the update and the intention to make a video podcast on behind the scenes posts - the site is very inspirational since I am developing online courses for a local university here in South Africa and from next year it will be built around podcasts. Keep the good work up - the discussion threads are about the best I have seen anywhere on the web. In fact your stuff is so good that my dog listens to Christine’s F1 Minute Podcasts!

Yea - the moment it loads and I start playing it she jumps onto a nearby chair to listen to F1 Minute. Something about Christine’s voice - she will also listen through headphones I have photos to prove it!
